Hello readers:
I'm not an insomniac. In fact, I've always been quite a prompt and heavy sleeper.
And, yet, here we are, chatting at 1:30AM. Don't get me wrong. I desperately, desperately want to sleep. Work's been grueling and I've returned to boxing after a month-long hiatus, so all I can think about is sleep. Even now, I'm barely able to articulate my thoughts because all I can think about is sleep.
But I can't sleep. I can't sleep. And now it's 1:44 in the morning and here I am, still working on this post sporadically, uncertain if I'm even making much sense.
It must be the boxing. I'm so glad to be back in the ring (although, for the record, I'm not actually in the ring all that much just yet) and I'm also grateful for hydration because working out (ie running) without water is difficult. It's sure got my adrenaline pumping and, as a result, it's 1:48AM and I'm still awake. I want to stop typing but I can't. I physically can't stop. It's almost as if my fingers would rather type anything--gibberish, garbage, whatever--than shut off my computer so that I could even try to fall asleep.
So, on the occasion of my insomnia, I present you, ever loyal reader, with the following haiku:
I can't stop typing
And to sleep I've now bid bye.
Thank goodness for snooze.

HAIKU: THE RETURN OF INSOMNIA

How I'd love to be
in the arms of Morpheus;
too bad he's a tease.

INSOMNIA: not a haiku
Unlike my other insomnia posts, this one, clearly, isn't a haiku. I can't compose a haiku right now. I feel haiku'd out.
It's 3AM. I have to get up in three hours and, yet, the motivation to sleep eludes me. I heart great novels.
Come morning, I'll happily wear those bags under my eyes.

INSOMINA: Yet Another Haiku

Sleep, you've pimped me off
to insomnia again
and that's so not cool.
(Well, at least the Yankees-Oakland game is on. Insomnia's not that bad after all. Let's go Yanks!)

OH, EDVARD MUNCH
Dear Reader,
You might recall that in an earlier post I asked you to recommend the perfect image illustrating inexplicable sadness.
Eureka! I've found it! Here's "A Night in St. Cloud" by Edvard Munch, who is best known for his other painting, "The Scream." He painted "A Night in St. Cloud" after learning of his father's death and shortly after his arrival in France.
ps: I'm not sad...just trying to battle this two-headed beast called insomnia and boredom.

INSOMNIA

...and I thought counting sheep would do the trick!
It's 4:38, Saturday morning and I still haven't slept at all.
I used to be a great sleeper. I wonder what went wrong.
My poor cat is keeping me as much company as she can, sitting by my side as I feverishly blog, following close behind as I pad through the place.
I was kidding before (on my AIM away message). Sleep is not overrated.
This sucks.
AT THE MOMENT, I DON'T CARE VERY MUCH FOR...
Blogger.
Not only is the site not allowing me to post up pics with my new blog posts but it just erased two of my latest posts. I'm so glad I had saved what I wrote in Word.
It's 2:40, by the way (actually, it's 3PM; I was up until 6AM this morning, struggling with a relentless insomnia. Blogger deleted all of my posts from that time, so if you notice a discrepancy between the time I say it is and the time noted at the bottom of my post in the upcoming posts, please disregard).
