SPINSTERHOOD

Both of my brothers have settled into significant other-hood with their lovely significant others.

The frequency of my parents noting "Wouldn't-it-have-been-nice-if-Sabila-also-had-someone-to-invite-to-dinner/brunch/whatever" has, as a result, increased tremendously.

I often wonder why the hell I'm still single. The answer is, of course, pretty obvious: I have none of the fortitude necessary to survive the emotional rigors of the dating world and so I choose being a non-contender over having my heart broken.

Surely, this is a curse that's doomed me to a life of spinsterhood, to be spent in the company of cats and dogs and, of course, the cats and dogs will make my allergy eyes rain down a constant deluge of tears.

What a depressing and wussy choice, indeed.

Contrary to the overwhelmingly despondent tone of this post, my readers should know that I had a most lovely day today! Just wanted to throw that out there!

Your brothers date? Doesn't significant other mean girlfriend or boyfriend?

why is this so hard. Ask you parents ask your brothers and family to find a good boy for you. No breaking hearts just settle down. Put same efforts into finding a suitable boy that you put into your work and this blogging. Spinning around is no good.

Oh dears! It is apparents that no good boy will want you if your brothers are doing such bad things with these womens. No I understand why Sabilak is still a spinster. No good family wants her because of this. Please tell your brothers to ship-shape up so Sabilka can find a nice boy.

The reason I was asking is because I do know that dating is haram in Islam.

If you are not interested in dating than find a man the same way. Then you both will be on the same page and holding similar values etc. It is always a good idea to marry someone of similar nature...Not that it is very easy to find that.

Anonymous who thinks dating is haram: I guess we're screwed then.

What's so wrong with Spinsterhood? If you don't want to "settle down", then just ignore all that silly cultural/familial pressure and don't.

I hate to make generalizations, I really do, but for example if you like arrogant men a white man will fit the bill... It's the truth unfortunately. Don't even get me started on geeky white men. *rollseyes* All I am saying is you will be surprised and in a bad way...

Spinsterhood is fine as long as you have lovers.

SabilaK said...

Anonymous: Why does that even matter?

Anonymous said...

Auntie:
Will you translate "kamina" for our ghora readers? I know it's a cuss word but have no idea what it means...

I am surprised that your parents approve of your brothers dating.

If it gets played out then you find another lover.
